What is Sajda in Quran & How many?

The sajdah is on the places within the Quran the place Allah mentions that he wreaked and punished a number of people and supernatural creations as a result of they were proud and smug. So by bowing in front of Allah after reciting each such verse, the reader of the Quran provides a gesture that he is not at all proud and that he considers Allah as the supreme being. Thus the sajdah is symbolic in depicting our humbleness before Allah. The Quran has 14 sajdah (some scholars say 15), And it is not true that it always comes after a verse where Allah(God) swt punished someone. The reason seems to be given in surah Bani Israel 17:107-109107. Say: "Whether ye believe in it or not, it is true that those who were given knowledge beforehand, when it is recited to them, fall down on their faces in humble prostration, 108. "And they say: 'Glory to our Lord! Truly has the promise of our Lord been fulfilled!'" 109. "They fall down on their faces in tears, and it increases their (earnest) humility."

If the person doing tilawat does sajdah the listener also has to do sajdah (Ruwayyah Abu Huraira)

Significance and Fazeelat of Sajdah e Tilawat

Abu Huraira reported that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
When a person while reciting the Quran reaches the point of Sajdah in the surah and he does a sajdah then the Shaitaan cries and separates himself from that person and wails” O Disaster! When he was commanded to do Sajdah, he performed sajdah, thus for him, there are the gardens of Jannah. When I was commanded to do sajdah I did not do sajdah, and for me, there is The Fire.” (Sahih Muslim)
According to the Islamic custom, the chapter was revealed throughout the Meccan part of Muhammad's prophethood. Some students argue, based mostly on attaching occasions of revelations, that a number of verses (some say verses 16–20, some say solely 18–20, some say only 16) are from the Medinan part, but the arguments are usually not widely accepted. For instance, Mahmud al-Alusi opines that the shut connection between these verses and the previous ones means that they're probably from the same period.
